This tutorial will show you how to replace a dull sky with a blue sky.

The main commands used are : Select - Color Range and Edit - Paste Into.

    Tutorial

    Open the original file...

    Menu
    Select - Color Range ...

    Setup
    Select
    Samped Colors,
    Fuzziness +/-100,
    Selection Preview Quick Mask

    Actions
Click anywhere on the light sky in the original photo and you see the Quick Mask will show in red the masking

Now click OK which makes a selection of the non-masked area - the sky. If you look closely in between the branches you see also here the selection works. Something that the magic wand tool will not do.

Since also some water has been selected use the Lasso in Difference mode to remove it.

Copy a light blue sky and paste it via Edit - Paste Into to replace the old grey sky.

Now you have a new layer with a mask.

Work on the brightness to adapt it to the rest of your image.
